As if I didn't have enough on my plate! I think that I mentioned that I had attended a Heritage Makers celebration at my neighbours house back in July. She intrigued me with the mention of digital scrapbooking so I packed up the kids and headed next door. I have since delved into the concept full force. The basic premise is that everyone has a story to tell, and everyone's story can be published. The company started just a few years ago when the founder decided to write her grandfathers memoirs so that her children would be able to know him after he was gone. Through a combination of journalling and photos, she compiled a storybook about him. She had a very hard time finding someone to publish it, thus Heritage Makers was born. As a client, you get your own account and workspace with artwork built in. You upload your photos and use the "drag and drop" system to drag your photos and artwork onto the page. Essentially, scrapbooking without the mess and time commitment.
Last month I decided to try my hand at selling and teaching the concept. What was I thinking - three kids and a full-time career? I don't have time for something like this, but I do have the passion so I'm giving it a whirl and keeping my expectations low! I am officially a "Heritage Makers Independent Consultant". I have my first party scheduled next week and another on October 5th. Because I can't get enough of this, I want other people to become obsessed as well! ;)
Here's a smattering of projects I have started, finished, am in progress on...
Connor's Alphabet Album... a Christmas present for him, finished but not yet published:
Alex's Alphabet Album - finished, published, and delivered to us last week. It's fabulous!!! I'm very pleased with the results:
Brandon's Alphabet Album - a Christmas present for our nephew - not yet published, but I've finished it as well:
Our summer vacation - 61 pages of photos from our recent vacation --- believe it or not, finished (except a final proofing), but not yet published.
A deck of playing cards... finished and delivered. They are very, very cool!
I've also got another 4 Christmas projects on the go, so I guess you could say I'm a wee bit addicted!
As a consultant, my role is to assist my clients to create lasting storybooks that preserve their photos and memories for generations. My website is http://www.storingyourmemories.com/ I'm very excited about this. It's scrapbooking for the busy Mom (or career gal) who just doesn't have time to complete her pages the traditional way. No excuse now for falling further and further behind!
